One can get a design patent for staple guns that have a zebra stripe paint color pattern that is Unigue, but has no Utility and smoke up folks arses.
It must be Unique to be patentable. It must have utility to use full and valuable unless it is for $750 purses and shoes for folks with more money than common sense.
I was calling it a stock a scam when the CEO claimed to be able to convert CO2 into fuel, but the patent they claimed they filled for was not published. I offered to sign an NDA if he would let me see it. I got no reply. I called it scam on Ihub in 2009 and sure enough it was. They later claimed they abandoned the patent application no one ever ever saw and they claimed to have listened one from Canadian Univ.
It Took a Shell R&D top dog they hired a while to confirm it was BS, and he switched the scam game to a new target, and then he vanished too with in 6 months.
Last I heard the new CEO was getting $250,000/year in shares for golfing.
2-3 years later it died Last I recall.
I dogged that scam for about 4 years every time a crew tried to pump the scam.
Odd part was the first CEO was the marketing manager of the Old early 1990s Online service, AOL. And I ran across it in 2008 when he was making the tech pitch to the US congress during the $143/Barrel Oil crisis, before the markets crashed.
The tech was possible in a lab, but not cost effective yet. Still is not last I looked.
