It is clear that Judge Du was careless and even flippant during and after the trial...However our main purpose should be to allow Singer to do his work unimpeded...in order to obtain the reversal which is so important...and not to punish judge Du for her transgressions....She was selected for her position as chief judge of the ninth district court at a terrible time in her personal life...and I do not want to accentuate the natural feelings of compassion, which the appeals judges have for her...and which might enter into their thinking about the case.
