and you and I would have a ton (and a half) less money to spend

the amount of each dollar we spend on goods manufactured (China - Thailand - Mexico) is now 50 cents

forty years ago that was 70 cents and we did not buy as much !!!

so now - moving some stuff to lower cost labor - we have 50 cents of what we earn (say as police - teacher - nurse - lawyer - computer tech) to spend on health and food and entertainment and our cell phone and such

we - 99% of us - got much richer in spendable money - 40% - as making underwear and toilet seats went overseas (actually from the North East to the South to Mexico to China to now Thailand and Burma and god knows where)

does anyone really think a person in the USA making a shirt can be paid a living wage and we can afford the shirt ? or to pay 50% more?

that said - there likely are 5% of goods we should REQUIRE to be made here and we as a nation needed to (and still can) help displaced workers

note - coal can not be saved - but people booed HRC and her 40B retooling program so we have DJT and less and less coal workers and no help for them

and then 100,000 truck drivers as auto drive ?

we must allow tech and low cost to give 99% money !! but we must help those displaced

(this goes back to the industrial revolution which caused more pain then some world wars !! ---- at minimum we should invest in education and after 80 or whatever years of ending public school (State paid education) at 12th grade - create a 13th and 14th grade or use community colleges to prepare

but the hatred by D of R and of R for D - will not allow for reasonable true moderate consensus legislation

Oh well - global climate change will make all of the above moot
