It should carry huge weight. How can the lower court make an obviousness determination, by clear and convincing evidence no less, when the relied upon studies involve the wrong patient population?

It's outrageous. Judicial neglect. Amarin highlighted this point in their post-trial Brief, yet the intellectually challenged judicial ideologue ignored this "obvious" distinction. Expect Singer to drive this home.
