Then yesterday I spoke to my PCP and he cautioned against allowing my friend to visit me. My doctor said that there is no definitive proof that the antibodies will prevent you from getting the virus. Is that true?



If he’s positive for antibodies and not currently ill, then he very likely isn’t infectious. But the tests aren’t perfect. (Some were pretty bad - and I don’t know that they have been removed from the market yet)

As for RNA swab, that is even less perfect. Quite possible to have been infected day 0, get tested day 3, get results day 5, then on day 6 visit with transmittable infection.

Bottom line - the best guarantee is full quarantine - which is why countries impose it for 2 weeks to new arrivals.

BTW - Manhattan Beach had a fair number of cases early on because it’s full of jet setters (I believe the HS even shut down for a while at some point before the lockdown)
