Question for the board:

My best friend who is in Manhattan Beach, CA wants to come visit me where I'm self-quarantined in Palm Desert, CA. He is with Kaiser. I told him that before he came to visit me, he should get an antibody test. (and a test for COVID-19.) Kaiser refuses to provide any antibody test. (They told him that they're having difficulties getting contract(s) with the labs that perform the tests.)

He continued to do some research and found a Quest Lab that will perform the test for $169.00. Quest said that they perform either of two tests: One from ABT and one from another company, Euroimmun. I told him to choose the ABT test.

Then yesterday I spoke to my PCP and he cautioned against allowing my friend to visit me. My doctor said that there is no definitive proof that the antibodies will prevent you from getting the virus. Is that true?
