Interoceanic works are scheduled to start in June in Salina Cruz

PANDEMIC ATTORNEY HIRING WORKERS
SALINA CRUZ, Oaxaca.- The major works of infrastructure construction, modernization and major repair, both in the Integral Port Administration (API) of Salina Cruz and the Ing. Antonio Dovalí Jaime refinery, have been postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main workers' plants that are represented in the port of Salina Cruz do not know with certainty when the construction work on the west breakwater will formally begin, with all the work already assigned, as well as the permits, contracts and exploitation concessions. of stone material to start the work.

With the delay of the works, the Buenosairean workforce is the most affected. Welders, ironmongers, paileros, stone material transporters and, in general, workers cry out for the start of these works in the port, which have been slowing down because they have not released resources due to the pandemic. And that is, somewhat because there is a risk situation due to the close contact that occurs between the workers and for this natural postponement, explained Carlos Benjamín García Pacheco, delegate of the International Federation of Workers (FIT) in Salina Cruz.

He gave as an example the case of the Ing. Antonio Dovali Jaime refinery, where the major repair work has not been started more than partially, it is only being done in critical plants, precisely to avoid close contacts between workers, but not It means that they will not materialize.

There are already tentative dates, said the delegate of the FIT, to start the works, and one is that from the month of June they would already be starting normally in that factory. He added that in the meeting held a few days ago between municipal, state and federal authorities -during the installation of the Regional Committee for Social Care of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec-, they said that everything was ready to start.

They mentioned that the contracts were ready, as well as the companies that won the tender and that they are already moving machinery, but as long as the companies to be able to carry out this activity, they still have to hire people, and to avoid possible infections by exposure between people, is that these actions have been slowed.

He indicated that they have not defined whether the members of the FIT will participate in these works, but what they have commented is that there will be work for everyone, García Pacheco reiterated several times, and for this they must be prepared, they must have their papers at hand with the documents that prove their specialty, because it is very important to have them.
