On May 1, Rafael Marín Mollinedo, general director of the Interoceanic Corridor project, installed the Regional Committee for Social Care of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, whose priority is to meet social demands and, consequently, avoid social protests that could hinder the works....

Days later, on May 4, in an interview with the newspaper La Jornada, Governor Alejandro Murat released the projection figures for economic growth that he considers will be generated with this work. The range of profit generation it offered is, however, too wide. It goes from 100 to 188 billion dollars by 2050, obtaining 30% of the demand that circulates through the Panama Canal. Also for that year, 550 thousand direct and indirect jobs would have been generated, with an added value per capita of around 267 thousand pesos per year, increasing to 633,780 pesos per year.

The route for this growth was not explained, merely pointing out that in September President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will present the executive project, with the final figures of a plan that has "global reach".
