Agreed people act in their own self-interest. We've got that down to a science. You say "give them the right information and they'll act responsibly" really? There have been numerous cases of groups larger than ten completely flouting the existence of the virus. Not sure they're too "stupid" or just plain selfish. Let's go back to "there are 15 cases and it's going to zero" and instead we're told it's probable in a few months we'll be well over a million and approaching 80,000 deaths. Then told here are the new social distancing guidelines I want each state to enforce. My friend we're no Taiwan. They figured out how to handle this and realized that China couldn't be trusted day one. Their people fell in line. You combine our leadership (lack of) with our "freedom is mine" mentality and fuggedaboutit. Skipped the lock-down you surmise...no way...we had to get kicked in the groin.
