design new protocols and endpoints, and run a new trial that actually does prove efficacy.

Let's take an effective treatment for GBM and many other cancers that really have no other effective treatment and make all those patients wait another 3+ years minimum while we run a more statistically pure trial . . . yeah that sounds like a really great suggestion . . . wish I had thought of it.
