“Carter was not served and did not appear; the district court entered default judgment against Calissio.”

What does it mean?

It means Carter didn't show up. That would have been problematic for him, since he appears not to exist. The company was not represented by any attorney, and also didn't show up in court.

And so COR asked the judge to hand down a default judgment against Calissio. The judge obliged on 21 April 2016:
