Although corporations are clearly the beneficiaries, you make a good point, the problem isn't corporations per se, it's money and now dark money in politics. When money is speech, (see Buckley v. Valeo and Citizens United v. FEC for examples), those with the most money speak the loudest.

For example, the top 1% of donors to Super Pacs in 2018 donated 96% of the money.

When the president was elected he said, "The drug companies are getting away with murder". After his election one must assume the drug companies explained to him why he wasn't going to make any changes. This is similar to the big banks explaining to Obama why his justice department wasn't going to prosecute anyone for the 2008 financial crisis. There are 100 examples but those two stand out to me.

It would be difficult to make the case that this money in politics has disenfranchised the average voter but clearly the average voter feels disenfranchised by middle-of-road politicians and this has begun leading us to more radically aligned politicians on both the left and the right.

I was surprised to find out how many Sanders supporters voted for the president in the 2016 election. Many people are just angry and want to vote for a populist. And, if they don't have one to vote for, they just don't show up.

I, and I suspect most on this board, have benefited from our lopsided system. As a serial entrepreneur, my concern is that if we don't redirect more money toward the 90% of US citizens they will eventually revolt and upend this amazing free market society we have today.

I just think we need more monetary balance in the system.
