That rather assumes that it has an end.
Complete eradication is unlikely. I can foresee new outbreaks popping up here and there in various countries, perhaps with an annual pattern. And I'm sceptical about a universal vaccine being around in the next two years.
The US is more like a patchwork of different countries anyway, akin to mainland Europe.

Until antibody tests become widely employed, nobody knows the current virus penetration, anyway.
But as treatment protocols become more effective, I do think mortality will drop.
FWIW it's worth I think the US will not have the Italy/Spain (UK?) trajectory, but a slower, but more protracted experience.
