I am not an expert but Future contracts do not close on weekends or after 6:00pm on Friday LMFAO!!! Future contracts expire on a predetermined day in the future so they are an ongoing bet on whether you think the market will be up or down in the future... so DOW futures are based on general concensus or sentiment based on those bets or contracts...
