I definitely recall building miles and miles of fence and setting railroad ties for corrals.
I remember destroying a couple of Timex "self winding" watches whilst driving T-posts. They only wound so tight before the spring sprung. Oops.

A few years back during haying season, a buddy and I were motoring down a county roadway talking of baling when he mentioned "idiot cubes". Being a stickler for details, I said, "no, no. A cube is the same dimension on all 3 sides."
He said, "Just wait."
A couple miles later, we passed a baled ditch full of "cubes", idiot blocks that were only about 18 inches long. "What a waste of twine."

He responds, "No, no, no. His boys are only 4 and 6 years old...they can't handle full size bales, yet. The bales will be a little longer next year."

The farm/ranch was a great place to be raised.
