Preferred are illiquid and very difficult to get in and out of easily and quickly. Notice today the volume on FNMAS is only 90k. And why buy a Preferred share when you can get 4 times the amount of Common shares for the same money? Preferred (FNMAS) have 5 times upside max from here. Commons have at least the same upside but with unlimited potential to be much much more higher than only 5 times.

If you as an investor think Fannie will go BK then by all means buy Preferred.
