That wood roof support structure cannot possibly handle the load of a trolly/ beam system, No way. Also remember they literally dug out pole to pole to build the in ground trough. Any decent horizontal moment of the old wood vertical support structure could collapse the side walls of the trough, or snap those old vertical wood posts.

Again, this structure was never intended for this purpose. Never.

It’s not bad engineering, it literally no engineering.
