KC, Italy has the virus concentrated in the north where textile factories are concentrated. Lots of Chinese work in the north, many in these factories. There are direct flights from cities in the north to Wuhan. The Chinese new year would have had many travelers go home to China for the holiday then return. I am surmising that a lot of the problem in Italy is the sheer number of people that contracted the virus in China and brought it back to Italy. Of course if the Chinese were honest about it when this first happened, we are probably looking at an entirely different outcome.
