Murch's background sounds more like someone who is well versed in the rigors of testing procedures. Probably experienced in knowing where the risks lie and perhaps more confident in taking the risks of flying knowing that all that could be done has been done in terms of risk management, within a given set of resources and time limitations. Bob Jones seems to have his comfort zone on the theoretical side and was perhaps too fearful of failure in moving forward into testing. Maybe when one's ownership is defined in those terms, the spector of a technical glitch rendering the result falsely invalid was overwhelming and became a limiting factor in moving forward. At some point the project has to be put on the line and the next steps taken, for better or for worse. Here's to progress and moving forward.
