I lived in China for 10 years, on and off from (1997-2014). Traveled all over the country. I saw many of these types of markets in many big cities, even in the year I left in 2014. Went back last year, still there. I agree that these types of markets are getting less, but there are still a very large number of them, especially in the city I lived the most years, Chongqing.
