I'm really not sure the answer to that question. I know Fidelity and Schwabb are pretty big firms and both let me trade penny stocks. Fidelity now has more restrictions than they used to but they fill my orders for pink reporting companies that are sub-penny.

Back in the 90's I was paying huge commissions to trade penny stocks at Fidelity. The trades alone were $29.95 but they had a premium they put on penny stocks that was outrageous. Sometimes my commissions were between $200 and $300 for just entry or exit. Even so, I managed to significantly multiply my money. It was after I made a large stack of chips that I decided to fan out among other brokers --- discount broker and a broker that allows me to have a self-directed IRA.

Speaking of self-directed IRAs -- that account was one of the best moves I made because with a self directed IRA I was able to buy land, trust deeds, homes, etc.

I've done a lot of cool stuff through my self-directed IRA with PENNY PROPERTIES. For example - bought 5 pieces of land at tax sale auction and paid $10k for all 5. Sold one of the properties for $15k. All money went tax deferred back into my IRA. Then bought neighboring property for $3k and sold it for $20k ... all money tax-deferred back into my IRA. And there were many others, and trust deeds, and home I picked up, had remodeled, and then sold, with profits going back into my IRA. They also allow me to buy crypto, which I haven't yet. All in all I tell folks who have the time and money to look into self-directed IRAs cuz they're just cool.
