First time poster, long time lurker. AMRN long since before first ADCOM. Thanks to all of you for all your DD, guidance and invaluable information. Last year after my annual physical through my employer I found that my cholesterol had gone through the roof (300+). I'm a 51 y/o healthy firefighter. I found a cardiologist at a well respected cardiology practice in the Denver area. He put me back on a statin (had been on one a few years prior and went off). I requested that he also put me on Vascepa. He stated that he did not want to start me on two different drugs and to just see what the statin alone could do to my numbers. I pressed him on this and he pressed back saying that he did't think the RRR of 25% in the Reduce -It study from Sept. 2018 were accurate. Full circle 8 months later........statin only bloodwork shows cholesterol down to 128. Met with the cardio's Nurse Practitioner last week. Whole goal was to get on Vascepa. Younger NP and I told her my goal was to get on Vascepa. Without hesitation said..."I love Vascepa, it's a great drug. You can absolutely get on it." I have Cigna and told her that I thought I might need a PA. Told me to call if I did and they would get one right away. Just picked up my first 30 day supply and my local Kroeger supermarket an hour ago. I used the discount card and my 30 day supply cost me $9 .
