That's rather odd - statins can be hard on the liver, but they apparently can prevent liver cancer? Reminds me of ICPT's OCA being investigated for NASH - it increases the levels of a chemical that increases the risk Hepatocellular Carcinoma by a factor of 100 - and oncologists are looking for drugs that inhibit that same chemical to come up with a drug that prevents liver cancer - almost unbelievable, eh?

Per that statin RWE study - any idea how long the patients were on statins before the reduction in Hepatocellular Carcinoma was significant? Would love V to get a new indication based on RWE to extend exclusivity - first one AMRN should focus on (and pay for) is DES, they should be able to complete that an get an sNDA approved before the extra 3 yrs for R-IT runs out.
