Also used to be in the same biz, and agree with you wrt to BA - what they did with the Max wrt not disclosing known issues and extra training pilots should have gotten is reprehensible and they defied good engineering practice (single point of failure in a mission critical system). Don't know exactly what went wrong with their aborted rocket to the ISS, but nobody will ever top the mistake LMT made many years ago when they programmed a Mars-bound observation satellite using SAE units w/o making sure JPL knew about it - JPL used metric units to make calculations, fired steering rockets at the wrong time and place during the trip, orbiter was lost. In any case, pretty sure LMT has been a better investment than BA over any recent time period - maybe 10 years ago I knew an engineer who worked there, asked him about the company's prospects, was thinking about buying stock when it was around $90, he said "dunno, I only invest in bonds", so w/o any inside info I passed - now it's around $400 - oof.
