He had to give a forecast, yes he could have waited until January but with the approval made sense to get the sandbagged number out with good news as the # was not going to change. I think he should have had 750 as the upper number but analyst average 685 with low of 600 and high of 785 so you know he wasn't going near the 785.

This is the proper way to set low expectations, they just need to raise guidance a little with each quarterly report and stock will go higher.
