It makes sense if you follow this stock but it just makes no sense ! I've waited 10 years for Friday's announcement watching the stock and reading this board multiple times each and every day. I've ridden the highs and lows from before the first ADCOM, having bought as low as $1/share and as high as $21/share. The bulk of my money is invested here.
I keep justifying my investment by knowing its a drug that really works with an outstanding safety profile, but it has been a lousy investment ! On Friday after the FDA decision and a decade of heart wrenching uncertainty, I finally saw a 100% return in my account just to watch it pull back today a mere one day later. Every article and feature piece in the media blitz states "fish oil got approval but...." and then goes on to list 3 or more negatives about the drug and why its just ok and nothing more.
If you have been trading the swings in this investment over the last 10 years you probably have made a fortune. As reliable as the sun rise when it goes up it will go down almost immediately. If you are an investor and not a trader you have made a lousy investment unless your average cost is under $8/share. If your average cost is any more than that, you would have done better in a conservative mutual fund.
There is no question in my mind that there is a coordinated and concerted effort to swing this stock price up and down. It occurs regularly and with no apparent effort. I don't think its a conspiracy, but I find it so odd that companies with unproven drugs and limited or no patent protection and no revenue and which are not nearly as low risk as AMRN is today get bought at a premium and in amounts as high as $9.1 billion dollars or more, and here we sit dropping in the channel, with no buyout offers that we know of, and no retail or institutional investors other than BB buying in to support the stock price. It defies any reasonable explanation to me why there is all of the media negativity and constant downward pressure on this company... other than its been a traders gold mine and remains that way.
