And in that way there is more of a common culture throughout the Middle East and North Africa than across Europe. Why? Most Europeans share a more or less common religion: Christianity. And like the Sunnis and Shi'a, they spent hundreds of years fighting over the Reformation. As far as that's concerned, not so different.
