I don't know how old you are (and I'm nott asking), butt I think the global DEBT BOMB will explode while we are still here.

And while it will make life more difficult for many or most, I still would like to be around to witness it. I'd like to see how the Millenials, the cityvolk, and the people living well beyond their means cope with an event that will, in some ways, I bleeve drawf the Great Depression. Nott in absolute level of living standards, butt certainly in relative level. We have sooooo much more now that they did in the 1920s, so while we likely won't sink to the same level of living as the 1930s (i.e., the bottom will be higher), the relative degree of loss of lifestyle will be much, much greater - because our lives are so much easier now and we have so much more to lose (which we will).

From my observations in life, it is very, very hard for people to reduce their living standards substantially if doing so is involuntary. One of the great gifts of growing up poor (or semi-poor) is knowing that it doesn't take much to live and be happy. I don't think many Millennials (or Gen X or Y or Boomers) have that baseline knowledge, as most post-WW2 born people have grown up in a soft, cushy, everything-always-getts-better frame of reference.

The worldwide Debt Bomb explosion will rock a lott of people hard. Rich people generally don't know HOW to live poor and they FEAR it. That's why there are at least a few true stories about people jumping off buildings in 1929 (it's largely a myth, butt there are examples where this did occur). And we know suicides go way up in recessions and things like the 2008 Foreshock Event.

We've tried to raise DaSun to be a minimalist, which he largely is butt has his eyes on some expensive toys sometimes - practical butt overpriced.

DaSquaw and I will prolly do fine. We both come from dirt and know how (and mostly) to live very frugally. I've been a dumpster diver ever since collitch (though not for food anymore - yett - still have my eye ~OUTT for the bucket of KFC chicken with uneaten piece tho <g>), and acquired a number of items of significant usefulness and value from dumpsters over the years.

And I (and DaSquaw) don't need much to live and be happy. I've gott my fishing gear, she has her gingerbread houses and social circles.

In contradistinction, someone like DaFoleyFelon-Coyote's wife is going to have one hell of a time. She's a co-defendant with her hubby in an SEC securities fraud case that's pending. A very serious criminal case will follow. She and hubby are broke already and in bankruptcy court. She's basically a high school graduate who thought she was marrying the next Steve Jobs and they've lived high on the hogg because of the ongoing securities frauds. They have a decent-sized home in Los Gatos (well, DaBank has it), send the kidd to private shkools, and she drives a Mercedes 450 and according to her bankruptcy filings she spends munny on masseurs/masseuses, manicures/pedicures, landscapers, and expensive wines and restaurants (clubbing with her rich girlfriends).

She will wind up totally penniless, with a civil forfeiture over her head for the rest of her life, likely a short term of incarceration in Dublin (California), and when she getts ~OUTT she has zero work record or references, little to no post-high skool edjucation, no trade or skill, and she'll be in her 50s. No car, no house, no munny, on post-release probation, with a civil forfeiture of millions of Dollars looming over her for the rest of her life - and basically unemployable.

Going there from a lifestyle thinking she was Mrs Steve Jobs II and living like it is gonna be very, very hard for her.

Going from always having been well-off to being impoverished is a very hard road to walk for most people.

I'm always up for bagging groceries, driving a delivery truck, or whatever - I've done similar gigs and don't mind them. I don't think I could work for a mason anymore - physically my body wouldn't cope with a hard building trade anymore. Butt I can still do most general work if there is no demand for my other skills in a Great Debt Bomb Explosion. It wouldn't bother me much. I think it would bother a lott of other people who think such work is beneath them or they fear it because it's unknown to them as a personal experience.

Worst case, I've discovered that I actually have a Fuji apple tree that produces scads of decent apples. I can always sell them on the street like they did in the First Depression. And I can fish for food. And my dumpster-diving skills remain honed to a razor's sharpness. I can forage with the best of the raccoons.

Being relatively poor (and nobody in Merrika is truly poor at all by world standards or historical standards furshirley) is nott to be feared and certainly nothing to suicide over. Heck, look at it as a challenge, nott the end of existence or happiness. Butt I think many will nott cope and will fall into a deep hole of substance abuse, depression, anger, hatred, violence, crime, and/or suicides.

In any case, however it develops, it (the Debt Bomb Explosion) will be inneresting to watch and to ride along the wave until the pine box arrives or I am sent to the Soyent Green factory. I'm curious to see how it develops and hoe the elites try to postpone and forestall it with endless gimmickry and lies. You know they will - or will try. Butt math is ruthless, it will ultimately prevail.

Look how quickly Venezuela went from being the richest country in South America with the largest proven oil reserves of ANY country (including Saudi Arabia) in the world to the total disaster it has become now. Most people think such a thing can never happen here or in the 'developed world' (OECD). The math says otherwise.

We'll see (if we live long enuff, which I hope we both do).

Who nose, we might even see the first nuclear war - which will be in the Middle East almost certainly. However, we could see a nuclear device used anytime in London, New York City, Tel Aviv, or Paris. It's coming too. Just as in the 1930s astute observers saw WW2 coming, despite the vast majority, including the elites, in total denial of it or simply blind. Like almost all are today with the Debt Bomb.
