My experience with HP has been very different to yours. I've had several HP printers (but they are older ones I use for my XP machine -- yes, I still prefer my XP to the Win10!). I always refill the printer cartridges myself which saves me a bundle. I consider the HP my workhorse printer.

On my Win10 machine I have a wonderful little Canon portable printer. This is my second one. The first one lasted 11 years and just died (I think it needs a new printhead) so I bought my second one ($162 at Amazon). I also fill the ink cartridges on this machine, but it is much easier to do than with HP.
