For a team that just paid Edwin Encarnación $5 million to buyout his contract I don't understand why the Yankees didn't offer Didi Gregorius a qualified offer. This would be a one year commitment with a difference of only $6.2 million between Didi's 2019 salary and the qualifying offer.

Didi would have one year to prove post TJ surgery recovery he is worthy of a multi-year commitment.
