Medical Implant Device Market for new material

https://www.aarp.org/content/dam/aarp/ppi/2017/08/understanding-the-market-for-implantable-medical-devices.pdf

Due to all kinds of age old political and infrastructure stables, default material such as stainless steel and titanium are somewhat untouchable.

$50 material cost within a $50,000 surgical procedure cost will limit any form of "cost reduction" types of ME TOO offering.

Net shape forming BMG vs MIM based Stainless Steel offer is at best a ME TOO product.

Tight Tolerance, Elasticity is not a requirement for Medical Implant Device.

Limited size was a big negative until now with 700 grams capability.

On individual component level, BMG alone cannot replace Stainless Steel.
However, in system level, if another break through component (such as Biodegradable Magnesium screw/staples) is also required,
then our sales folks will have some LEVERAGE to knock down the incumbent Stainless Steel.

Imagine HIP replacement surgery where artificial HIP must be tied back with tendons and ligaments.
Biodegradable screw and staples will obsolete need of screw and staples removal upon body heal.

Securing a PaceMaker or an ICD at a precise location can enjoy similar benefit.

BMG HIP + Biodegradable magnesium screw/staples will be a wonderful combo and must to sold together.

Wonder who owns both those wonderful technology......
