Johnni,

Welcome to the board! As far,as the discussion about women in science goes one of the strengths supposedly tested for is a tendency to work in groups or teams better for problem solving and that is in evidence here with Dr. Linda Liau and Linda Powers. They both took on challenges that most felt would lead them down the road to nowhere. Linda Powers kept the hope of Dr. Linda Liau's dream alive at a time when it was set to completely crash and burn. What is interesting is that both of these women were influenced by men who worked with then. I believe Dr. Ralph Steinman, who won the Nobel Prize for science for his research into dendritic cells, had a big impact on Linda Powers when they served together on a board or committee which I don't recall the name of offhand. If I recall correctly Dr. Linda Liau worked as an understudy to man who had begun some research into DC use as a treatment and she continued the pursuit of creating an effective DC vaccine for brain cancer after that. Much of this discussion happened years ago but it is always good to bring it up once in a while to remind everyone how the path forward here actually occurred. Glad you finally spoke up and so glad for you and your husband that his surgery and treatment went well. Best wishes.
