I'll be happy to temper my previous expectations, but all the elements are there for AMD to deliver something great. I just don't think they'll deliver it in Q2 2007.


K8 wasn't an outstanding product in its pre-release days
either. But K8L is like K8, all that AMD has. They will
work on it relentlessly, stepping after stepping, to whip
it into shape. Intel should not let up on the gas pedal in
the slightest.

Ray Kroc, the guy behind Macdonald's success was
once asked what he would do if he saw a competitor
drowning. He replied "stick a garden hose in his mouth".

Intel should assume K8L will be whipped into great
shape and aim to beat it in all respects. If K8L falls
short of a home run then so much the better, Intel can
really put the boot in and turn the clock back to the
days when it had 80+% unit share, 90+% revenue
share, and 99+% profit share in the x86 MPU market.
