So true. Not only that but the underwriters and others short big time before the offering and then have a guaranteed cover at a lower price after they tank the stock to get a reduced offering price. The “investors” of the offerings are rarely investors at all. They don’t actually hold most of the stock. The shares are pre-dumped into the market by shorting and then the offering shares are delivered back to whomever lent the shorted shares. It’s like a huge hidden tax on capital for start ups. This is not the way that the capital markets were supposed to function.
