AES (AES) announced the start of operations of the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) hub in Panama and Central America, located at the AES Colón plant. AES Colón consists of the 180,000 m3 LNG tank and a 381 MW combined cycle power plant, which reached commercial operations in 2018 and had been previously operating with gas from temporary sources.
Genmab (GMAB) and the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) confirmed that the European Medicines Agency's (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) issued a positive opinion recommending the broadening of the existing marketing authorization for DARZALEX (daratumumab) in the EU. The recommendation is for the use of DARZALEX in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone as treatment for newly diagnosed adult patients with multiple myeloma who are ineligible for autologous stem cell transplant. The Type II variation application was submitted to the EMA by Janssen Pharmaceutica NV in March 2019. In August 2012, Genmab granted Janssen Biotech an exclusive worldwide license to develop, manufacture, and commercialize daratumumab.
Vertex Pharma (VRTX) confirmed receipt of a positive CHMP opinion for KALYDECO (ivacaftor) to include use in infants with cystic fibrosis ages 6 months to less than 12 months who have one of the following mutations in their cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene: G551D, G1244E, G1349D, G178R, G551S, S1251N, S1255P, S549N, or S549R.
TechnipFMC (FTI) has been awarded a significant integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contract by Woodside for the development of the Pyxis and Xena fields, located offshore North West Australia. For TechnipFMC, a "significant" contract is valued at between $75-250 mln.
USA Tech (USAT) announced that its Board of Directors adopted a shareholder rights plan and declared a dividend distribution of one preferred share purchase right on each outstanding share of the company's common stock. Among other things, the rights are intended to enable all of the company's shareholders to realize the long-term value of their investment in the company. The rights will not prevent a takeover but should encourage anyone seeking to acquire the company to negotiate with the Board prior to attempting a takeover.
