I believe that Dr. Liau was presenting real time data, as the lead clinician she should be able to, though even she is blinded as to who is getting the vaccine, and who isn't. When she presented the top 100 it should have represented what it was at that time, and it was higher than when she presented it previously.

The company may be limited to how much information the lead clinician is supposed to provide them, but I don't believe the lead clinician is limited to what she wants from the other clinicians involved in the trial. I would suspect that at a push of a button they could learn the story on all who've previously passed away, who initially got the vaccine, who crossed over, and who never received it. On unblinding they certainly should rapidly determine the status of all remaining alive, but they'll need to verify that they're still living. I don't know how frequently the living patients are checked on by the clinicians working with them. I would suspect that most of those who're still alive routinely speak with the clinicians so it shouldn't take long on unblinding.

I believe that Dr. Liau with support from the company could put together a presentation that was proper for the entire trial in a matter of weeks after it is unblinded. The question is, will it happen in time for SNO, it will need to be in a matter of a few weeks if it is to happen. Without unblinding, Dr. Liau should be able to bring her last presentation up to date, while it's a strong statement that the vaccine works, questions remain until it's unblinded.
