One study does not "prove" anything. It is one data point among many. If you want to accept that one study as gospel that is your choice.

If you look at multiple studies on the expected life span of AD patients you need to understand when it was made since the ability to diagnose AD has improved considerably over time. That means AD is now diagnosed much earlier that in the past. The result of that is longer projected life spans post diagnosis.

I post two references for the life span prediction of AD patients. That was the result of 1 minute of Googling. If I spent 10 minutes I could find many more and they would all be somewhat different yet looking at all of them you can gain a pretty good appreciation of the general range of expected life spans.
