the SS is the outer frame. The glass back is joined to liquidmetal via the parent that Patently Apple mentions, and Yihao mentions on their website (I linked to both of these in a previous post). He calls it a single piece of machined glass—the patent calls it bonded to be a single unit. I still think the back is glass bonded to liquidmetal. Thus the performance test results. The outer frame is SS though. I’ll copy and paste that post to this reply for you.

ok i now see what you and pay have been describing i didnt understand it before.
a quick search on youtube shows that all glass backed iphones can have the glue bond removed by laser except there are no videos showing this process with the new iphones.

cant use laser to burn the glue if the glass plate has been bonded to lqmt for strength.

the first 4 videos are from 2 days-2 weeks old but only show older iphones not 2019 iphones.
