BARRICK KNEW IT COULD NOT MEET THE ENVIRONMENTAL PLAN

Already back in May 2015 Barrick knew it could not meet the environmental criteria that they agreed too.

A meeting called “Town Call” held on May 8, 2015, in which Barrick's offices in Santiago, Easter (Chilean side of the project in the mountain range), Vallenar, and the offices in Alto del Carmen and San Juan (Argentina), with Senior Vice President Pascua Lama and Executive Director Barrick Chile until July 2015, Eduardo Flores Zelaya and Executive Director of Pascua Lama until April 2018, Sergio Fuentes, revealed that the highest executives of the mining company had Already at that time clear knowledge that the Pascua Lama project could not meet the environmental requirements to which it had committed.

Barrick has been deceiving the world from every angle possible. I wonder when they are really going to come clean and let the world know that they don't have title.

This is disgusting:

It can be seen that senior executives in the privacy of the company and away from any communication and legal strategy are able to accept what the communities of the Huasco Valley have been claiming for many years: that Barrick did not fulfill his environmental commitments, and what is worse, in a malicious way, with full awareness.

More specifically, in terms of Glacier Monitoring, the statements show that executives are aware that they were at risk of breaching, so the arguments that are aired at the communication level and in the trials before the Courts that there is no breach since it has been due to force majeure, they seem more like a spurious attempt at salvation.

More info or lies from Barrick
In fact, in his monthly results report for the month of February, Barrick said:

“Currently, the Pascua Lama project does not meet the investment criteria of the company. The company plans to carry out a reevaluation of the options for the project in 2019, while continuing efforts to reduce care and maintenance costs. ”

During his visit to the country, Bristow added:

“Chile is a friendly country for investors that encourage the development of mining projects. We believe there are interesting opportunities, especially in the El Indio region, and we will continue to work in line with our strategy of creating value for all our counterparts, including the governments and people of our host countries. ”
