1 pound lean ground beef 1 cup cooked rice 1 small head cabbage 1 small onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 Tsp chili powder 1 Tsp mild paprika 1 Tsp basil Salt and Pepper, to taste
Mix beef, rice and seasonings. Cook cabbage in boiling salted water til leaves are pliable. Remove outer leaves from cabbage. Wrap a leaf of cabbage around one heaping tablespoon of beef and rice mixture. Fasten with toothpicks. Line the bottom of a two-quart buttered casserole dish with remaining cabbage. Put cabbage rolls on top. Cover with tomato sauce. Bake covered one hour at 350.
Tomato Sauce 2 cups tomato juice 2 Tbsp brown sugar 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar 1/2 Tsp salt
