Whoa! Daresn’t Go There!!

Would it be too much of a stretch to say ANAVEX 2-73 may be a possible cure?

Only depends upon what one considers, defines as a cure.

“Cures” for chronic or progressing central nervous system diseases or conditions are rare; not generally recognized.

Is insulin a “cure” for diabetes? No, it is a successful on-going therapy. It does not restore the normalized function of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas to ably produce insulin or metabolize sugar.

What happens if the cellular homeostasis restored by Anavex 2-73 proves to be enduring, not requiring chronic, unending dosing? Could Anavex-restored homeostasis be subsequently self-perpetuating (at least for a notable period)? Could it be that after an initial period of continual dosing, resulting in symptomatic relief, dosing thereafter would be at greater intervals, perhaps even just annually? Would such a therapeutic regimen be regarded as as “cure?”

For me, it’s merely a lexicographic curiosity. My legs are spastic, from insufficient GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) in the long motor neurons in my spine, a classic symptom of hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP). Transgenic rats with genes similar to mine, with an exactly parallel back-leg spasticity had their mobility fully restored after drinking water with Anavex 2-73 in it. I’m looking forward having this available for me. I’ll be able to walk around normally, again. Will give my walker to a nursing home. Will I have been “cured?” For me, the term is immaterial. I’ll be walking normally, whether I have to pop a capsule of Anavex 2-73 at breakfast for the rest of my days; or for just a few months.

Let’s just look for, call the favorable outcomes as “therapeutic successes.” Good enough, in every regard.
