Has anyone here ever had their insurer institute QL's? I can't recall seeing that before, just PA's. Speaking of which, wrt to educating docs and how long it can take them to change habits and opinion of V vs. "fish oil", when I saw my PCP a couple weeks ago about my pill gagging problem and to get a new scrip for the 0.5 mg caps, he wanted to lower my dose too - as in "maybe if he takes less pills it won't be such a big problem" - and this is after I sent him the R-IT NEJM paper and Bhatt's 2nd one on total ischemic event reductions - either he didn't read them, or it went in one ear and out the other. Was too tired and sick to even try to correct him about reducing the V dose - didn't really register until I'd left his office that "hey, he didn't read the R-IT results stuff!". Then again, I really don't think either paper said anything about "2 g/day isn't enough to obtain CVD benefits" - they just focused on the 4 g/day results, because, well, that's really the only thing they could discuss. I could send him some of the ANCHOR studies that looked at biomarker changes between 2 g and 4 g, but that's really not proof of anything.
