I watched an interview with Preston Mason where he was asked that type of question.
To paraphrase:
You could take all 4 caps at a single dose and there would be no difference in effect due to the very long half-life or side effects. They went with 2bid for Reduce-it to reduce the pill burden in a single dose. 4 caps of mineral oil as a single dose did have the potential to increase the chance of diarrhea in the placebo group.
