It's arrogance. Even the hypers can't legitimately twist it into a positive. Integrity and honor in doing the inconvenient right thing as opposed to the easy wrong does not seem to be held in high regard today. This is a mantle I believed in inside the military and promoted. It served me well in that environment. I've not seen the same commitment in a civilian world so I've no expectation. It does not weigh on me. But it's apparently good as an outlet for frustration on this fine bored.
