About Empire Relations - I have complained about Maciora’s attitude directly to Parkin as well as NWOG, with copy to Empire, so I don’t expect that I’ll get any more replies from Ken. I’ve dealt with many I/R firms before, never have I encountered this level of negativity or carelessness.

Parkin is apparently using this firm to deflect phone calls and emails, which is fair, if they are competent. Otherwise it just serves to diminish investor confidence even further. Perhaps that’s what they want (then buy back as much of the float as they can, at bargain basement prices (we are there now already).

Speculation about what’s going on abounds – the fact that the Russian contingent is supposedly in New York right now, for example (feeding the Carlysle connection – I am quite comfortable that Carlysle Group may be financing a lot of what’s happening… just don’t know what that is). The early connection (1999) between Parkin and Stratton Stevens (Parkin influence in NWOG actually quite substantial). Malyshev and Stevens both very much involved in charitable works (that may have attracted Stevens). What is not happening, is some sense of progress on all the PR “plans” – purchase of Saratovneftegeofizika, JV with Oil India, development of NWOG fields, Syria project, AIM listing, etc., etc.

One thing that might make sense is, they plan to release everything at once in advance of or in concert with the AIM listing. That would indeed have quite an impact. Seems a bit strange that this might happen, since we are so used to getting PRs as things happen. But we need to remain aware that we are dealing with a Russian company. They are used to secrecy and probably don’t know beans about “western” expectations (which may in this case be a good thing, after all).
