Is there any reason to think a merger would happen "soon"? Chinese (agricultural) companies never seem to be in a hurry.

$5 is acceptable, and it would only cost about 15% of the cash they should have at this point. Would be nice to see more though, value of the assets $15/share plus the $500M cash, right? But even $5 seem like a fantasy that would not come true.
