Very interesting blog by Cisco's Bill Gartner. Cisco is making big investments in photonics. In the past couple weeks Cisco acquired Acacia for $2.6 billion. In the past several years it has also acquired Lightwire and Luxtera both pioneers in silicon photonics. In this blog Bill mentions the future trend of co-packaging of silicon and optics.
