Maybe another way of looking at it is, VEND is the electric car of the auto industry. If the auto industry as a whole is in decline and people aren't buying new cars, VEND's sales are going to be down too. Sure, the machines are a novelty, but novelties wear thin quickly.

I've alluded to it as well, I think VEND became a quasi Ponzi scheme the second they had to start selling more machines just to make other machines and fund ongoing operations. Basically, stealing from Peter to build Paul's machines. It probably wasn't intentional, but you can't operate for that long without delivering and keep the doors open. Regardless of how many machines they sell, if there aren't locations to put them in, they may as well have not sold the machine in the first place. And, we all know that if they were hitting it out of the park securing locations, we would hear about it. Wasn't that Compass deal supposed to provide hundreds or even thousands of locations? Wonder what happened there.
