The only problem with our current system is that it was based upon as written in the Declaration of Independence, the moral authority of God.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,”
Our founding fathers thought that based upon that virtue, the politicians would always do what is right for America and her peoples. Our Constitution was based upon the virtue and moral authority provided by God and not by a government or king.
I think...The founding fathers being too idealistic and visionary were wrong.
As you see today with judicial legislation totally perverting the establishment clause of the Constitution, thus destroying America’s religious base we have the breakdown of society as we know it today. With no God as a standard of behavior, the people look toward our leaders who have no morals or ethics what so ever, as people to emulate. This slowly deteriorates our citizenry to the lowest common detonator as society’s norm.
Greed and corruption is what America was seceding against. It’s so sad to see that same corruption so prevalent in our politicians today.
If we were to move to a more theocratic society as was designed by our founding fathers,things might change. Although vigilance towards religion would need to remain on high alert, as we see today what happens when they have absolute power. Like our politicians they become corrupt.
