Wow - that's horrible info - reminds me of the BS trials used to gain Gardasil FDA approval, where the placebo also was not inert, so there was no stat sig diffs between groups, but are were severe side effects, including fatalities, tied to that vaccine. If I were you I'd seriously consider seeking an alternative - a 25% risk of an SAE is massively high.

Oh hey, in the comments section to the original article someone even brings up the Gardasil BS:

This is the second instance I’m aware of regarding pharmaceutical companies doctoring the placebo, Gardasil being the 1st. As this practice has been publicized, they have started pushing back by stating that the purpose of the studies is to determine the efficacy of the primary components, and, as such, they want to limit the differences between the drug and the placebo to the primary component(s). This is exactly how you would design a study, however, if you wanted to ‘disappear’ the horrible effects of the stabilizers, adjuvants, preservatives, etc.

I’m guessing that a bit of research will show that this is becoming standard practice. It is also medical malpractice, in my opinion.

I leave you with a quote from Marcia Angell, MD., editor of the New England Journal of Medicine for over 2 decades:

“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.”

Oh shit - just go an email from my Dad - my older brother has been in the hospital since last Friday awaiting a stent (which he FINALLY got this morning) after he failed a stress test and they found one artery almost completely blocked - 5 frigging days for the cath lab to get to him - WTF?!? Going to have to dig up my V and R-IT stuff and email it to bro's wife - he's only 60 - hope I have better luck with him than I did with my Dad in convincing him to get on V.
